BEIJING, July 5 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area will continue to be wrapped in hazy smog as muggy sauna weather persists in July, the Ministry of Environmental Protection said Wednesday.
Sauna weather prevents pollutants from dispersing and is the main culprit of the recent air pollution in northern China, according to environmental experts.
As a result, the average density of fine particulate matter PM2.5 rose significantly in cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan and Langfang.
The ministry also pointed out automobile exhaust emissions, industrial production and cargo transport as major source of pollutants.
Hefty consumption of coal near Beijing also generated pollution for the capital.
Experts expect the pollution will continue in these areas in July with high temperatures and a lack of rain.
