Mozambican president expresses condolences over landslide victims in China

MAPUTO, July 6 (Xinhua) -- President of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi issued a message of condolence on Thursday to the Chinese president, the government and its people following a landslide that killed more than 100 people late in June.

"It was with deep sorrow that I learned about the landslide in Sichuan province killing more than 100 people and leaving thousand injured, causing destruction to social and economic infrastructures," reads the presidency message.

"In the name of Mozambican people, the government of Mozambique and my own, I would like to express our deepest sorrow and solidarity to your excellence and through you extend them to the friendly people and the government of the People's Republic of China," the message said.

The president also expressed his profound feelings to the families of the victims and wished the injured to recover soon.
