Roadside bomb kills 1 police officer, wounds 6 others in N. Afghan province

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, July 18 (Xinhua) -- At least one police officer has been confirmed dead and six others injured after a roadside bomb struck a police vehicle in Imam Sahib district of the northern Kunduz province on Tuesday, a local official said.

"A mine planted by militants on a road in Imam Sahib district struck a police vehicle at noon today, killing a police officer Najibullah and injuring six of his men," district governor Amanudin Qurishi told Xinhua.

Investigation has been initiated into the case, the official added.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Kunduz province have yet to claim responsibility.
