TEHRAN, July 23 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.4 shook touristic Sirch village in Iran's southeastern Kerman province of Iran at 22:02 local time (1732 GMT) on Sunday, Iran Seismological Center said.
With a depth of 10 km, the earthquake's epicenter was at 30.104 degrees north latitude and 57.611 degrees east longitude.
The power lines were broken and the communication has been disrupted in the region, the state IRIB TV reported.
Despite the nightfall, people are still out of their house in panic as a number of after-shakes have hit Sirch and neighboring villages.
Some buildings have been damaged and cracks on the walls are visible.
Medical services along with disaster relief forces have been dispatched to the hit area.
So far no report about the casualties is available.
Sirch is a rural area located 1,054 km to the southeast of Iran's capital Tehran. It is situated on the heights, and has a cool and humid climate.
From the past, this area was considered a summer resort for the warm and desert region and its surrounding villages.
This village nestles in a valley at an elevation of 1,550 m.
