Five people fined for illegal selling of UEFA Super Cup tickets in Macedonia

SKOPJE, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Five people are arrested and fined here while trying to illegally sell tickets for the UEFA Super Cup game between Real Madrid and Manchester United that was played on Tuesday.

The five, one Serbian, two British and two with double Macedonian and U.S. citizenship, will have to pay fine of 500 euros each for trying to sell the tickets prior to the match.

This sanction is according to the last changes in the Macedonian Penal Code, taken upon the UEFA's request, in order to avoid unauthorized re-sell of the tickets. According to the adopted provisions, this criminal act can be punished with a fine or jail sentence of up to one year.

The UEFA Super Cup spectacle between Real Madrid and Manchester United, the biggest sports event organized on Macedonian territory in recent history, went through without any serious incidents. Real Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup 2017 final triumphing with a result 2-1 against Manchester United.

Over 30,000 football fans watched the game on the Macedonian National Arena in Skopje and the seats were strictly held under the name of the buyer to avoid price manipulations. Enditem
