Xi urges restraint on Korean Peninsula nuclear issue in phone talks with Trump

BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping called for restraint of concerned parties on Korean Peninsula nuclear issue in a phone conversation with his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, on Saturday.

Concerned parties, at present, should avoid remarks and actions that could escalate tension on the Korean Peninsula, Xi said, adding China is ready to work with the United States to appropriately resolve the issue.
