PARIS, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday welcomed the nomination of Paris to host 2024 Olympic Games, adding the tournament would be an opportunity to "increase (France) international attractiveness and dynamism".

"France will be proud to uphold the Olympic values of solidarity, excellence, friendship and respect," Macron said.

In a statement issued by his office, the president also hailed "this success and the exceptional opportunity that the game will provide to support France's transformation ... and boost the role of sport throughout (the country)".

Working to host "extraordinary, surprising and festive" games, Macron would name Inter-ministerial Delegate for the Olympic and Paralympic Games to take in charge the coordination between all state departments, the statement added.

In a separate communique, Jean-Yves Le Drian, Foreign Minister said the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decision to choose France's bid "rewards collective and determined work" and was "a great success".

French top diplomat noted that the Olympics would help Europe's second power to further flourish its tourism attractiveness thanks to the planned new transport infrastructure and the media visibility of such an event.

A study released by the center of law and economy of sport showed the games' economic gains were estimated at 10.7 billion euros (12.8 billion U.S. dollars).

Earlier on Wednesday, the International Olympic Committee named Paris as host for 2024 Olympics, a century after the 1924 games.
