BAQUBA, Iraq, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Two Sunni tribal fighters were killed and seven others wounded on Thursday in an explosion at a booby-trapped house in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, a local senior official said.

The incident occurred when a group of paramilitary tribal fighters were cleaning the guest house of a local tribal leader to prepare it for receiving displaced families near the town of al-Edhiem, some 120 km northeast of Baghdad, Mohammad al-Obeidi, head of Edhiem town hall told Xinhua.

The guest house appeared to be booby-trapped by Islamic State (IS) militants who previously seized the village, Obeidi said.

Edhiem and the surrounding areas stretch to nearby Himreen mountain range.

IS militants still control the Himreen mountain areas in northern and eastern parts of Diyala province.

The group also has a major redoubt in Mteibijah area on the provincial border with Salahudin province, which extends to the sprawling rugged area from the western part of Salahudin province to the desert in the neighboring Anbar province in western Iraq.
