TOKYO, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 struck off northeastern Japan's Iwate prefecture at 5:22 a.m. local time (GMT 2022 Tuesday), Japan Meteorological Agency said on Wednesday.
The temblor was centered off the shore of Iwate prefecture, with the epicenter at a latitude of 40.3 degrees north and a longitude of 142.5 degrees east and at depth of 30 km.
The earthquake logged 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7 in some parts of Iwate, Aomori and Miyagi prefectures.
So far no major damage or injuries were reported, and no tsunami warning has been issued.
