DENVER, the United States, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- The largest beer festival in the United States, the Great American Beer Festival, kicked off here Thursday, drawing tens of thousands of visitors from around the world to sample thousands of different American craft beers.
Produced by the U.S. Brewers Association, the three-day event at the Colorado Convention Center in the city of Denver in the west will serve over 3,900 beers from 800 breweries across the nation.
The festival, founded in 1982, has been growing and evolving along with the American craft brewing industry ever since.
"There is no other place you can find more beers on tap," said Ann Obenchain, marketing director of the Brewers Association.
"We need to have 40 miles (about 64.4 km) of draft line to get the beer to all of the booths. The space for storage of beers takes up seven American football fields," she added.
"We also have economic developing program that is reaching out to other countries like China, to bring our beers to your country," Obenchain told Xinhua.
According to the Brewers Association, an estimated 60,000 people will attend the event.
"It's a really great expression of what craft beer means in America, how it grows, how it's so diverse. There is something for everybody here," said Adriana Borgia, a tourist from the northeastern city of Philadelphia.
