China goes to semifinals at world badminton junior championship

JAKARTA, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Young shuttlers from China entered semifinals at the world badminton junior championship after defeating Indonesia on Thursday.

Chinese team won 3-1 against Indonesian team in the badminton tournament at the Amongrogo sport stadium of Yogyakarta province in Indonesia, according to the website of the country's badminton association.

The Chinese team ensured its entry to the semifinals after its women's doubles pair Liu Xuanxuan/Yuting Xia defeated Indonesia's opponents Jauza Fadhila Sugiarto/Ribka Sugiarto in the fourth match with scores of 21-9, 21-15.

Manager of Chinese team Ding Ke said that both teams from China and Indonesia had played well and given the best performance.

"Today we only try to show our best performance to win the match and provide the best playing to the spectators," he was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.

China will play against Japan in the semifinals.

The badminton world junior championship kicked off on Monday (Oct. 9) and will conclude on Oct. 22.
