LONDON, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Counter terrorism cops in Northern England were Monday granted warrants to detain two 14-year-old schoolboys on suspicion of terrorism offences.

The boys, from Northallerton in Yorkshire, were arrested at the weekend on suspicion of preparing for an act of terrorism under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 as part of an ongoing police-led investigation, police said.

They have been detained in West Yorkshire for questioning while detectives continue searches at a number of properties in North Yorkshire. Searches of three residential properties in the Northallerton area have now been completed, police said Monday night.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers believe that this is an isolated incident and the wider community are not at risk. We appreciate the cooperation of local residents while the investigation continues."
