PHNOM PENH, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia announced on Friday that 11 out of the country's 25 cities and provinces would be hit by moderate-to-heavy rainfall from Nov. 4 to Nov. 6 due to the impact of Tropical Storm Damrey.

Storm Damrey is brewing in the South China Sea and will strengthen into the strong Category 1 typhoon when it strikes Southern Vietnam coast in the evening of Nov. 4, Lim Kean Hor, minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, said in a statement.

"This phenomenon will cause moderate-to-heavy rainfall with wind speed from 8 to 12 meters per second in Cambodia's 11 cities and provinces from Nov. 4 to 6," he said.

The affected cities and provinces include Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Speu, Kampong Chhnang, Kampot, Kep, Preah Sihanouk, Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, Tboung Khmum, and Kampong Thom, he said.

The minister also advised the public, especially fishermen and travelers by sea, to be extra-vigilant to avoid any possible dangers.
