CBA Roundup: Liaoning suffers first defeat, three teams remain unbeaten in CBA

BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Liaoning was overwhelmed by Guangsha 101-117 at home court in Sunday's fourth round of the CBA, suffering the first loss of the season, while Guangsha, Jiangsu and Guangdong claimed their fourth straight win and remained unbeaten.

Both Liaoning and Guangsha took 3 consecutive wins in the previous 3 rounds. Liaoning fell behind since the beginning of the encounter and left behind 21-31 after the first quarter.

The visiting team engined a 14-2 run in 4 minutes and expanded the lead to the surprising 27 points in the second quarter. Liaoning kept chasing and bounced back an 11-2 run, trimming the gap to 19 points with 44-63 at the end of first half.

Guangsha's fast breaks and shots from beyond the arc enlarged the gap to the maximum 30 points in the third quarter. Liaoning tried hard to keep the overturning hope alive by narrowing the difference to 16 points in the last quarter while Guangsha's last 11-1 run sealed the victory.

Six players of Guangsha scored double figures. Liu Zheng earned the team high 24 points by lots of smart transition plays and easy moves. Courtney Fortson contributed the outstanding 18 assists.

Jilin lost to Jiangsu 96-108 and Guangdong defeated Sichuan 113-109 on Saturday. Jiangsu and Guangdong are also the teams that have a perfect record by now this season.

Shandong snapped Fujian 111-104 while the home team's powerful star Ding Yan Yu Hang grabbed the game-high 45 points which is the top score among Chinese players this season.

In other matches played on Sunday, Shanghai beat Shanxi 128-121 while Jimmer Fredette shot the amazing 47 points. Zhejiang downed Tongxi 114-106. Guangzhou lost to defending champions Xinjiang 138-110, Tianjin edged Aolong 96-95, Beijing romped over Qingdao 111-105, Zhejiang won over Tongxi 114-106, Bayi lost to Shenzhen 79-104.
