ALGIERS, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Algeria on Monday said it had defeated terrorism and is on the path of fighting extremism and radicalism, the APS news agency reported.
"Algeria has managed to defeat terrorism and focuses on fighting extremism and radicalism," said Religious Affairs Minister Mohamed Aissa.
"The religious institution, including mosques and imams, managed to block extremism and radicalism by referring to the true Islam and based on the heroes of the Islamic expansion glories, as they contributed to spreading the patriotic spirit embodied in the glorious liberation revolution and in the difficult phases that the country has gone through," the minister said.
Algeria suffered from terrorism in the 1990s, since when the North African nation developed a remarkable experience in the fight against terrorism.
