LONDON, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has been named as West Ham United boss, the East London English Premier League club announced here on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old Moyes, who resigned as Sunderland manager after the club's relegation last season, replaces Slaven Bilic, who was sacked on Monday with the club in the Premier League relegation zone.
Moyes has managed in the Premier League for 14 seasons in Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland. He also managed Real Sociedad after being sacked at Old Trafford in 2014.
Joint-Chairman David Sullivan said: "We believe David is the right man to turn things around and get the best out of the players at the club. He is highly regarded and respected within the game, and will bring fresh ideas, organisation and enthusiasm.
"He proved with Everton that he has great qualities and we feel that West Ham United is a club that will give David the platform to display those qualities again."
Moyes will meet his new players for the first time at Rush Green on Tuesday morning, before taking charge of the team for the trip to Watford in the Premier League on November 19.
