7th Bangladesh denim expo focuses on transparency of supply chain

DHAKA, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- The 7th edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo has been under way in capital Dhaka, focusing on the "transparency of supply chain to show the buyers and consumers where and how the apparels are being produced."

Organizers say transparency is at the heart of this edition of the expo, with a series of actions and events as the demand for the transparency in the textile and garment supply chains has been growing recently.

This exhibition has been offering unique panel of companies exhibiting their top products and best practices centered around the main theme of the Expo, representing the full denim supplying chain, they said.

"The vision of Bangladesh Denim Expo is to make Bangladesh a sourcing hub by creating a multinational gathering, exposing new business horizons and greater corporate opportunities for the entire denim value chain as well as uplifting the country's image to the world," said Bangladesh Denim Expo Founder Md. Mostafiz Uddin.

He said a total of 65 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions including China are participating in the show while more than 12,000 visitors across the world per-registered online to attend the 2-day expo which started on Wednesday.

Bangladesh currently has 25 denim- producing factories with total investment of nearly 1 billion U.S. dollars.
