LOS ANGELES, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Hollywood movie maker Harvey Weinstein has been kicked out of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) as his widely reported sexual misconduct continues to be brought to light.

"Harvey Weinstein is no longer a member of the DGA, effective today," a guild spokesperson was quoted as saying by the Hollywood report on Monday. The organization gave no further comment but removed Weinstein's name from its web site as of Monday.

DGA President Thomas Schlamme had announced on Oct. 13 that the organization filed disciplinary charges against Weinstein, adding that "there must be no tolerance for such deplorable abuse of power" and "must recognize that sexual harassment exists in our society, and painfully, in our industry."

Weinstein had been ousted by the Producers Guild of America and expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in October in response to his sex scandals.

Hollywood was shell-shocked by the sex scandal exposure on the Hollywood kingmaker. The New York Times broke the bombshell story about Weinstein in early October after an exhaustive six-month investigation, disclosing explosive allegations of Weinstein's 30-year pattern of sexual harassment and workplace intimidation against numerous young female stars and employees dependent on his largesse for jobs and career advancement.

DGA is an entertainment guild which represents the interests of more than 16,000 film and television directors and members of the directorial team in the United States motion picture industry and abroad.
