ST. PETERSBURG, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The 15th Meeting of Prosecutor Generals of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states opened here on Wednesday with main focus on the fight against cybercrime and the use of the Internet in extremist and terrorist activities.
Delegations from the 15 countries took part in the event. The Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika talked about measures to combat extremism in social networks and messengers. He also noted that effective counteraction to cybercrime requires cooperation at the interstate level due to the cross-border nature of such crimes.
The Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China Cao Jianming also attended the meeting and said China will strengthen contacts in order to eradicate both symptoms and root cause of cybercrime, to maintain prosperity and stability in the region and promote creation of the community of common destiny.
Bilateral and multilateral meetings were also held on the sideline of the meeting.
