China, France pledge to further develop bilateral ties

BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Friday held a phone conversation with the foreign policy advisor of the French president, Philippe Etienne, with both sides pledging to deepen ties between their countries.

Yang, also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the China-France relations are enjoying healthy and steady development, guided and promoted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The two countries have conducted intensive high-level exchanges and pushed forward cooperation in key areas and major projects, which gathers momentum for further developing ties in the new era, Yang said.

Etienne, who initiated the phone call, said France is looking forward to deepening cooperation with China in various fields and in international affairs, and promoting further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The two sides also exchanged views on climate change.h Yang stressed that tackling climate change is an important part of China's development concept and a global consensus, adding that China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the international community, including France, in this respect.
