FRANKFURT, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- The lockdown in the midtown of the southern German city of Ulm ended Wednesday after local police declared a suspicious package as safe, police officers said.

"It is a normal parcel delivery," the police said via their social media.

The security forces evacuated a midtown building in Ulm Wednesday morning due to a suspicious package, and cordoned off the midtown district covering Wengengasse and Keltergasse.

Last Friday, a suspicious item found at a Christmas market in the German city of Potsdam was confirmed as an improvised explosive device.
