GAZA, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Israeli troops stationed on the borders between southeast Gaza Strip and Israel shot and wounded six Palestinians on Thursday, medical sources said.

Israeli soldiers' gunfire wounded six Palestinian men east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip, adding one was shot in abdomen and is in critical condition, Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of Gaza's Health Ministry told reporters.

On Thursday, dozens of angry Palestinians clashed with Israeli soldiers at the borderline area between southeast Gaza Strip and Israel. They threw stones and waved Palestinian flags, while the soldiers fired tear gas and gun shots at them.

The protest in Gaza is a reaction to United States President Donald Trump's declaration that Jerusalem is the capital of the state of Israel, which sparked a large Palestinian outrage all over the Palestinian territories.

Rallies, demonstrations and protests dominated the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip against Trump's declaration. Dozens of protestors in Gaza set fire to U.S. flags and pictures of Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
