TBILISI, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Georgia exported 76.7 million bottles of wine to 53 countries in 2017, a record high in 30 years, the Georgian National Wine Agency said on Thursday.
Georgia generated about 170 million U.S. dollars from the sale of wine abroad, the agency said in a report.
Revenue increased by 49 percent, while the volume of exports increased by 54 percent, it added.
Russia, Ukraine and China ranked as the top three largest importers of the Georgian wine in 2017, purchasing 47.8 million bottles, 8.5 million bottles and 7.6 million bottles, respectively, according to the agency.
Local analysts said that China has become one of Georgia's most important wine importers in recent years.
Moreover, with the free trade agreement between Georgia and China taking effect on Jan. 1 this year, Georgian wine exportation will witness a boom in China in the near future, the analysts said.
