PARIS, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Two army helicopters crashed near a lake in the department of Var in southeastern France Friday morning, killing at least five people, local authorities said.
Two helicopters from the Army Light Aviation School crashed early Friday at about 09:00 a.m. local time (0800 GMT) near Carces lake in Var, local authorities said in a statement.
Var officials have not given the number of victims while French media reported at least five deaths.
French Defense Minister Florence Parly has departed for Var.
