Ghanaian president leaves for Senegal for int'l conference on education

ACCRA, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo left here Friday for Senegal to attend the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) conference.

Akufo-Addo is leading the Ghanaian delegation to the international conference on the replenishment of the funds of the GPE, at the invitation of the Senegalese President Macky Sall and French President Emmanuel Macron, the presidency said.

The event is being co-hosted by Senegal and France.

GPE, the only multilateral fund devoted solely to education, aims to raise 3.1 billion U.S. dollars for 2018 through 2020 to support the education of 870 million children across 89 countries that are home to 78 percent of the global out-of-school population.
