5.2-magnitude earthquake hits Myanmar's southern region

YANGON, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake of 5.2 magnitude hit Myanmar's Bago region Monday midnight, said the Meteorology and Hydrology Department.

The earthquake struck at 23:25:35 hours local time (16:55:35 GMT) with a depth of 10 km.

The epicenter was 32 kilometers southwest of Phyu city in Bago region and 156 km north of Yangon.

Report on casualties is not yet immediately available.

On Jan 12, stronger quake of 6.0 magnitude also jolted the same Phyu area, followed by several aftershocks.
