PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 8 (xinhua) -- A total of 86 cases of Norovirus have been confirmed and are in quarantine after being treated, the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games Organizing Committee (POCOG) said in a statement released on Thursday.
According to the statement, 63 out of the 86 cases are from the Horeb Youth Training Centre accommodation, where some 1000 private security workforce staff have been staying, and the remaining 23 are from other locations.
The other 23 confirmed cases consists of 12 police officers, seven POCOG staff and four press support staff.
The POCOG has yet to trace the route of transmission and has suggested a series of Norovirus prevention measures including only drinking boiled water, cooking food thoroughly and washing hands for more than half a minute with running water and soap.
Meanwhile, some 900 military personnel have beenm deployed to address the short fall in security workforce due to the isolation. They will work across 20 venues until all affected workforce are able to return to duty.
