PHNOM PENH, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's Supreme Court upheld the decision of a lower court on Friday to sentence ex-opposition lawmaker Um Sam An to two and a half years in prison for incitement by posting a fake border map with Vietnam on Facebook.

"The court rejects the appeal complaint filed by Um Sam An and upholds the verdict of the Appeal Court," Supreme Court presiding judge Soeng Panhavuth pronounced a verdict after a one-hour hearing.

Um Sam An, 41, former lawmaker for the now-dissolved opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party, was arrested in April 2016 for posting on his Facebook a fake border map to accuse the Cambodian government of ceding territory to Vietnam.

In October 2016, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court found him guilty of incitement to cause social instability and racial discrimination and sentenced him to two and a half years in jail.

And in Dec. 2016, the Appeal Court upheld the verdict of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court against the former lawmaker.
