JAKARTA, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian banks' non-performing loan in mining sector has declined as rising global demand and subsequent stronger coal price.

Non-performing banking credits at major banks in the country was down 3.91 percent last year compared 4.75 in the previous year, according to a survey by Kontan media.

For this year the banks were upbeat over decline of their non-performing loan ratio in mining sector due to the rising global commodity demand and price.

However, the banks did not mention precise target of the decrease.

"The decline of non-performing loan in mining sector is in line with the projection of global economy," President Director of Bank Mayapada Haryono Tjahjarijadi said.

Indonesia is the world's largest exporter of thermal coal and home to the world's second-biggest copper mine.
