JAKARTA, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Lombok will resume the international trail run competition slated for May 4 to 6 this year with 1,200 runners from 40 countries and regions attending the event.

The event, called Rinjani 100K, would bring the runners to various places around Lombok' s prominent volcano of Rinjani that has won international recognitions for its extraordinary beautiful natural views, Deputy Tourism Minister for International Marketing Development I Gde Pitana said.

Pitana said that there will be 424 domestic runners.

The Rinjani 100K this year would be divided in 4 groups, consisted of 100K, 60K, 36K and 27K.

Rinjani 100K Race Director Rudi Rohmansyah said that the run tracks for the event this year would pass through various terrains, from easy track paths around tourism villages, savanna fields, dunes of volcanic sands up to the extreme less-travelled forest paths that lead to the peak of Mount Rinjani.

"There would be 10 check points and stopover spots for those in 100K group whose running time is limited in 36 hours," Rudi said.

All of those tracks was designed to pass Lombok's prominent tourism spots, including the Sembalun hill that won the World Halal Tourism Award (WHTA) in 2016 in category of World Best Halal Honeymoon.
