MADRID, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish Interior Ministry on Tuesday confirmed that a suspected jihadist was arrested on Tuesday in the small town of Torre Pacheco in the province of Murcia in southeast Spain.

The 31-year-old Moroccan is accused of indoctrination and openly supporting jihadist terrorism by posting videos produced by the Islamic State (DAESH) on his social network sites and of spreading a message of hate against those he described as "the enemies of Islam."

The ministry said that the detainee had undergone a "radicalization process" over the past three years and he had "evolved dangerously" over that period to being "on the point of participating in violent terrorist actions."

The arrest means that 269 suspected jihadists have been arrested in Spain since the start of 2015.

Tuesday also saw three people arrested in a joint operation between French police, Spanish Civil Guards and the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan regional police).

The three were detained in the French regions of Gard and Tarn and are suspected of being closely associated with Dris Oukabir, who is currently in prison for his role in the terrorist attacks which claimed 16 lives in Barcelona and Cambils, in Spain, on Aug. 17 and 18, 2017.
