BERLIN, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- German Finance Minister Peter Altmaier warned against the negative effects of the recent U.S. tax reform on European jobs on Tuesday.
"We do not want to see a shift of companies and jobs", Altmaier said. The German finance minister made the comments prior to a meeting with several of his counterparts in the European Union (EU) in Brussels.
In a sign of growing frictions between the EU and U.S over trade and capital flows, the group has addressed a letter to Washington and demanded that the taxation reform be assessed for its compatibility with the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Altmaier and his colleagues also emphasized the need for the EU to act in unison in order to defend its interests against "America First" policies championed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
