DHAKA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were killed and 30 others injured after an over-speeding bus hit a lorry in Bangladesh's central Narayanganj district, some 30 km northeast of the capital city, on Monday afternoon, local police said.
Morshed Alam, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj's Sonargaon sub-district, told Xinhua that the fatal road accident took place on the highway connecting the Bangladeshi capital and southeastern seaport city Chittagong, 242 km away from Dhaka.
He said the bus hit the stationed lorry at around 1:20 p.m. local time and went off the road and turned turtle.
Alam confirmed the death of eight people, saying the toll might rise as several injured passengers were rescued in critical condition.
