NAIROBI, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's national under 20 football team will not play Tanzania this weekend in Dar-es-Salaam as early announced, local football officials confirmed on Friday.

The Under-20 team was to travel on Friday to Tanzania for a friendly against their hosts but the fixture has been cancelled without notice.

The team, which has been training in Nairobi has since broken camp and will resume normal business on Monday.

"As part of the build-up, the team played against Mathare United on Thursday where upcoming Harambee Stars winger Musa Masika scored the only goal of the match played in Nairobi. We will get other friendlies," said coach Stanley Okumbi.

Tanzania was expected to give coach Okumbi and his charges a feeling of what competitive international football is, but they will have to wait until they meet Egypt later this month.

The team will now concentrate on a two-legged friendly against Egypt, and use the friendlies to prepare for the 2019 Total U-20 Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round against Rwanda.

Kenya's first round match against Rwanda will be played on March 30 and the return leg on April 20. The winner of the two-legged tie will face off with defending champions Zambia in the second Round in May.
