KIEV, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine has raised about 298 million U.S. dollars from two auctions of 4G mobile spectrum, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Tuesday.

In a statement on Twitter, Poroshenko said one auction, which took place earlier in the day in Kiev, raised 205 million U.S. dollars to the state budget, 35 percent more than the government has expected.

At a separate auction in January, the government earned about 93 million U.S. dollars from selling the 4G spectrum.

As the result, three Ukrainian largest mobile operators, Kyivstar, Vodafone-Ukraine and Lifecell, won the rights to provide the 4G mobile service.

In the next four years, all cities in Ukraine are set to gain the access to the 4G service.
