Russian, Indonesian FMs to meet on bilateral cooperation

MOSCOW, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold talks with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi here on Tuesday to discuss relations between their two countries, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced Monday.

The two top diplomats will discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, with a focus on the implementation of the agreements reached following talks between the Russian and Indonesian presidents in May 2016 in Sochi, the ministry said in a statement.

Lavrov and Retno will also coordinate the two countries' positions on international and regional issues, it added.

Russia-Indonesia relations "are characterized by intensive political dialogue, close economic cooperation, progressive advancement of military-technical and humanitarian cooperation," it said.

According to Russia's official statistics, bilateral trade amounted to 3.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2017, an increase of 25.2 percent from the previous year.
