SYDNEY, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Police in Sydney will be given the power to remove vehicles and stop drones flying in the vicinity of the ASEAN-Australia summit this weekend.

New South Wales State Police Minister Troy Grant explained on local radio Tuesday that the decision was made "because of the terror level threat."

"The visible presence will be a lot higher than what people normally expect on their weekend," he said.

Although the minister did not discuss specific details of their operations this weekend or what has prompted the security concerns, it's understood that Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's official residence at Kirribilli House will also be under strict security protocols due to the heightened threat level.

The weekend conference, which will include the leaders from the Southeast Asian region, will to discuss ways to strengthen ties with Australia.

Top of the agenda for the high-profile meeting will be counter-terrorism, regional security and economic policy on trade.
