SAN FRANCISCO, March 18 (Xinhua) -- A man was shot and killed in a vehicle Sunday in the East Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area in north California, police said.
The shooting occurred in a neighborhood in Hayward, a city in Alameda County, about 35 kilometers southeast of San Francisco on the U.S. west coast.
Alameda County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that police officers found the man inside a vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A motive for the killing is unclear at this time," and a homicide investigation is underway in Hayward, the county sheriff's office said.
Police said that there were other people in the car but none of them was injured.
The victim's age and identity were not released, but a Facebook user wrote in a feedback to the police announcement on its official Facebook page that the deceased man was a "funny and humble" musician who played keyboards and was married to one of his relatives.
