Mujahid Anwar Khan assumes command of Pakistan Air Force as 22nd air chief

ISLAMABAD, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Air Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan on Monday assumed office as the new chief of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) at a ceremony held at the Air Headquarters in Pakistan's capital city of Islamabad, local media reported.

During an impressive change of command ceremony, outgoing Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman formally handed over the PAF's sword of command to Mujahid Anwar Khan and also decorated him with the ranks of Air Chief Marshal.

Mujahid Anwar Khan has become the country's 22nd air chief of PAF after government of Pakistan on Friday announced that he will be the new chief of the Pakistan Air Force.

According to the PAF spokesperson, born on Dec.23, 1962, Mujahid Anwar Khan was commissioned in General Duty (Pilot) Branch of PAF in December, 1983 and is recipient of coveted Sword of Honor, Best Pilot trophy and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee gold medal from PAF Academy Asghar Khan.

In an acknowledgement of his commendable services in PAF, he was also awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military), the second, third and fourth highest honor and civilian award respectively in the State of Pakistan.

During his service, he has held various command and staff positions. He has flown various training and fighter aircraft including F-16, F-6, FT-5, T-37 and MFI-17, said the spokesperson.
