RABAT, March 19 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit and his Finnish counterpart Kai Mykkanen discussed here on Monday migration and terrorism issues.
Speaking to the press after the talks, Mykkanen said the two sides focused on the means to dealing with returning fighters within the ranks of the Islamic State (IS) group.
He also hailed the strong relations between Morocco and Finland, deeming them as "fruitful and positive," adding that the two countries are willing to further develop their ties.
Mykkanen stressed that Morocco plays a "very important" role in cooperation between the European Union and North Africa, commending Morocco's migration and asylum strategy that aims to integrate illegal immigrants into the Moroccan society.
He also praised the important role played by Morocco in elaborating a comprehensive migration strategy in the African continent.
The Finnish minister is on a visit to Morocco, where he is expected to meet with other government officials.
