BERLIN, March 20 (Xinhua) -- German new minister for digital affairs has criticized here Tuesday the late push for digitalization of the country at a professional conference.
"Everything we now undertake about digitalization comes late for at least one legislative session," Minister Dorothee Bar made the statement in her first public speech after having taken office last week.
Minister on digital affairs has been set up for the first time in German government, which however doesn't belong to the cabinet.
Without her own ministry, Bar has to coordinate digital affairs spread among different cabinet departments in her term.
Bar said one of her tasks is to build a digital "citizen portal", which will help German citizens simplify and streamline the procedures when they deal with the government sector.
An E-government-agency will also be built between the central and local governments for their coordination, she added.
