NANNING, China, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Goals from Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani saw Uruguay head out comfortable winners over the Czech Republic in their China Cup International Football Championship fixture.

The Czech Republic coach Karel Jarolim understood that his side lacked a cutting edge that could break down Uruguay's defense.

"We were quite active, but we didn't have so many chances. We wanted to be even more active on the sides. I think that was the most important thing that we lost today, we weren't active and strong enough in the final third," Jarolim said.

The stadium lit up in the 36th minute when Cavani smashed home an acrobatic bicycle kick to make it 2-0 to Uruguay after Luis Suarez won and converted a penalty with 10 minutes played.

It was a tough blow for the Czech Republic who probably looked the more threatening side after conceding early in the game.

The Czech Republic's one big chance came in the 76th minute when they managed to penetrate the Uruguay defense and hit the cross-bar. It was a frustrating evening for Karel Jarolim's men.

For his part, Uruguayan coach Oscar Tabarez ,was pleased with the team's performance but was keen to make sure that the spotlight doesn't just fall on Suarez and Cavani.

"Football is a team sport. As I've said before there are many new players in our midfield that gives us a great advantage. I think our team has a very long history and players come and go and they stay for a long time," Tabarez said.
