KIEV, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The Ukrainian association of Belt and Road cooperation "Silk Link" on Friday presented a mediation platform "Newtend" to Chinese business people.
Representatives of about 40 Chinese state-owned and private companies took part in the presentation.
Newtend, which is part of Ukraine's state electronic procurement system ProZorro, provides online services for Chinese businesses to buy and sell their products and services in Ukraine.
Iryna Nikorak, a secretary of Ukraine's parliamentary group on the development of relations with China, said the need to create the platform has arisen with the sharp increase of business cooperation between China and Ukraine.
"About 15 Chinese companies have already won tenders for infrastructure projects in Ukraine," said Nikorak, who is also the executive director of the Silk Link.
She emphasized that Newtend will further promote the development of Chinese business in the Eastern European country.
Meanwhile, Taras Holub, project manager with the Silk Link, noted the platform will serve the interests of Chinese companies, which are working in Ukraine or planning to enter the Ukrainian market.
By using Newtend, Chinese companies may purchase goods in Ukraine and participate in the tenders conducted by the Ukrainian government, Holub said.
"On this platform, Chinese business people may place orders for Ukrainian goods and search Ukrainian partners that are interested in exporting such goods," Holub said.
For those Chinese companies which have won tenders on projects in Ukraine, the Newtend offers an option of searching local partners for supplying goods and services needed for implementing such projects, he added.
Currently, the Newtend platform provides access to about 50,000 projects with an estimated overall value of 33.1 billion U.S. dollars.
