Afghan president visits eastern Paktia province to inaugurate development projects

GARDEZ, Afghanistan, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani paid a visit to the eastern Paktia's provincial capital Gardez city on Sunday to inaugurate key development projects, said a statement released by Presidential Palace.

According to the statement, the president during his stay in the relatively peaceful Paktia province will inaugurate the Paktia sub-station power project, the Gardez-Zurmat Road, a new housing project, an industrial park and the new police headquarters building.

The president will also meet with security officials to assess the situation in Paktia and adjoining provinces.

Meantime, Haroon Chakhansuri, the Deputy Chief of Staff - Strategic Communications and Media, Office of the President of Afghanistan in his twitter said that President Ghani has officially inaugurated the Arghande-Gardez power line (220 KW) and Gardez Sub-station (220 KW) to provide electricity for thousands of houses in the relatively peaceful province.
