TRIPOLI, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The Benina International Airport administration in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi on Monday suspended flights until further notice due to security issues.

The airport's information office said in a statement that due to conflicting jurisdictions and ongoing security and military issues and chaos inside the airport facilities, it was decided to suspend the work in all sections and units of the airport until further notice.

The statement noted that the suspension would continue "until solutions are made within this vital facility."

The airport administration did not reveal details of the security issues.

Benina International Airport is one of the largest airports in eastern Libyan. The air hub was closed for years due to heavy clashes between army forces and terrorist groups.

From time to time, security agencies interfere in the operation of the airport, and even closed it as a result of disputes with the administration.

The decision was made following a visit of General Abdarrazag Al-Nathuri, the army's chief of staff, on Saturday to the airport to review security developments.
