China-aided ASEAN shooting competition range handed over to Laos

VIENTIANE, April 10 (Xinhua) -- An ASEAN small arms shooting competition range of the Lao People's Army built with the help of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was handed over to Lao authorities here on Tuesday.

Chinese Ambassador Wang Wentian and Lieutenant General Suvon Luongbunmi, central committee member of Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy National Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff of the Lao army signed the hand-over document.

The Lao party's politburo member and Minister of National Defence, Lieutenant General Chansamone Chanyalath, Senior Colonel Liu Feng from the Logistic Support Department of the Central Military Commission of China, and Senior Colonel Chen Yongjing, military attache of the Chinese embassy attended the ceremony.

Both Ambassador Wang and Lieutenant General Suvon agreed, when addressing the ceremony, that the shooting range program is a gift from the Chinese government and the PLA for the 57th anniversary of China-Laos diplomatic relations and the 70th anniversary of founding of the Lao army.

The facility is also a new symbol of the friendly cooperation between the Chinese PLA and the Lao army.

The two sides also agreed to push the China-Laos comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a high level with mutual trust, mutual support and mutual benefit.
