PHNOM PENH, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian police had arrested four men for allegedly trafficking 26.7 kg of illicit drugs in Phnom Penh, an anti-drug senior official said on Thursday.

Police arrested a group of four suspects and confiscated the large amount of drugs during raids on three different locations in Phnom Penh last week, said Loek Vannak, chief of the Interior Ministry's anti-drug department.

"The seized drugs include 18.1 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 8.38 kilograms of ketamine, and 217 grams of heroin," he said in a press conference here.

He said the suspects imported the drugs from Laos into Cambodia for manufacturing and packaging, and their final destination was a third country.

The Southeast Asian nation has no death sentence for drug traffickers. Under its law, a person who traffics more than 80 grams of illicit drug will be facing life imprisonment.

The country had arrested 17,795 suspects in 8,173 drug-related cases in 2017, and nearly 300 kg of illicit drugs had been confiscated, according to a government report.
