BiH PM hails remarkable progress on road to European integration

SARAJEVO, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has made a remarkable progress on the road to the European integration in the last three years, BiH Chairman of the Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdic said here on Monday.

Zvizdic presented the results of the work of the BiH central executive branch done in the last three years at a press conference, saying that BiH is expecting the European Union (EU) candidate status.

"We have fulfilled all the obligations regarding the BiH European Agenda, and at this moment, apart from the additional questions, there are no other conditions," Zvizdic explained.

The key priority of the work of executive branch in the last three years has been the acceleration of BiH European Integration Process, and in this regard BiH has made a first success of signing the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) in 2008. Eight years later, the EU accepted BiH application for membership in 2016. The final success that BiH has done on its European path is handling of the answered EU accession questionnaire to European Commission in 2018, Zvizdic said.

He continued on the issue of BiH successful tasks done on the European path by saying that BiH authorities adopted the key coordination mechanism for country's European integration in 2016. In response to the European Commission's Questionnaire, more than 20,000 pages of responses were earlier adopted by consensus on 14 levels of BiH government, he said.

"European integration is a key, crucial goal that leads to peace, stability, prosperity," Zvizdic concluded.
