RIO DE JANEIRO, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Brazil said on Tuesday that it will resume meat exports to Indonesia at an early date after the South Asian country's import restrictions for years due to concerns about food security.

The two countries' negotiations over trading details are in the final phase, Brazilian Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply Blairo Maggi said, adding that an Indonesian technical group is on the way to several slaughterhouses in Brazil.

Brazil has also negotiated with South Korea over meat exports and plans to further expand markets in China and Russia, the minister said.

In March last year, Indonesia decided to stop importing beef and chicken from Brazil after a highly publicized meatpacking scandal raised doubts about the country's food products.
