SINGAPORE, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) wend up 1.15 percent or 40.91 points to close at 3598.73.
A total of 1.58 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.38 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.05 billion U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 243 to 182.
The STI index closed up 1.7 percent or 59.62 points to close at 3557.82 on Wednesday.
